Someone destroyed Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with a sledgehammer.
Deadline reports that a man disguised himself as a construction worker and bludgeoned Trump’s star on Hollywood Boulevard early Wednesday morning.
It wasn’t the first time Trump’s star has been tampered with since he announced his bid for the White House in 2015. From Deadline:
The most extreme measure was a reverse swastika being sprayed on the star at 6801 Hollywood Blvd in late January. In June this summer, a mute sign was painted on Trump’s star in a seemingly protest against the antagonistic language and policies some have accused Trump of promoting and reveling in during the campaign. In both cases, Trump’s star was quickly cleaned and back as new within a day.
In July, an L.A. street artist surrounded the Trump star with a tiny wall topped by tiny razor wire to knock the candidate’s much-repeated plan to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico if elected. Like other designs on the Trump star, the little wall was soon removed.
I saw the damage up close during a recent visit I made to Los Angeles. Someone had placed masking tape over his name that read “rapist.”
I decided it was my patriotic duty to undo the vandal’s work. So I knelt down and peeled off the tape. Suddenly, I got attacked by angry hecklers – demanding to know why I wasn’t supporting Hillary.
As if my cleaning the Trump star for a picture – like I’d done with every star I took a picture with, typically brushing off leaves or dirt – indicated I was anti-Hillary Clinton?
I didn’t engage with any of the people standing around. They boo’d and jeered me as I cleaned off Trump’s star. They called me an “a**hole” and flipped me off, but I just smiled for the camera and hurried off to get my picture with another star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
I didn’t feel attacked more than I felt sorry for the people yelling about me brushing off a piece of tape that didn’t belong on Trump’s star.
But now that star has been destroyed by a thug armed with a sledgehammer.
Whatever happened to common decency?
