TIME magazine named Donald Trump “Person of the Year” as the “President of the Divided States of America.”
Anti-Trumpers were quick to remind people on Twitter Adolf Hitler was also named “Person of the Year” by TIME.
Not to mention our current president, Barack Obama. Not sure what that says, but that’s Twitter for ya.
So just how divided are these United States?
Here’s a map of the county-level results of the presidential election:
I guess our country’s only divided when a Republican sweeps the electoral map.
When liberals have their way, we’re broken up into categories: black, white, brown, gay, straight, lesbian, African-American, Asian, male, female, and list goes on and on.
It was on election night we learned just how divided our nation is – just how out of touch the mainstream media, the political establishment, and celebrities are – from the American people themselves.
And I point to the election, because Obama is still the POTUS.
“I’m not president yet, so I didn’t do anything to divide,” the president-elect said in reaction to the TIME piece, and it doesn’t appear his goal is to divide the nation, either.
In fact, he’s met with former VP and environmentalist Al Gore, liberal NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, who tried to boycott Chick-fil-A, and, as of this morning, Obama’s former chief of staff and current Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
We’re talking in person meetings – not just an impersonal phone call or letter.
Oh, and his meetings and consideration of adding former Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, to his cabinet, who probably didn’t vote for him.
Add to that, Trump is going on a “Thank You Tour” to the states that helped elect him president.
It was even revealed today Trump has been taking advice from President Obama on his cabinet picks.
If Trump were trying to divide the United States, it appears he wouldn’t have changed so much since the election – in his rhetoric and tone – but, what do I know, I’m not a member of the mainstream media.
I say, until he takes office, we should give the guy a chance and judge him based on what he’s doing now.
And to my liberal friends pointing out that Hitler was TIME’s “Person of the Year,” just remember they awarded that very same title to “You,” yes — you — in 2006.
Wear it well my friends, and remember we’ve all been TIME’s “Person of the Year” before.
